I loved Strawberry Shortcake dolls when I was little, so I was excited to find out that they were making them again in 2001. I bought Emma a couple dolls, only to discover that they weren't making them anymore...well, they were, but they only made talking ones and mermaid ones. What? Strawberry Shortcake isn't a mermaid! Anyway, I had to buy the rest of the regular dolls on Ebay for her for Christmas. Then, I went to Target a few weeks ago and found out that they totally redid the S.S. dolls AGAIN! Now they are all modern looking and taller and they look NOTHING like the original ones. What is this world coming to? If girls want Bratz dolls they'll buy one. Don't ruin Strawberry Shortcake! Oh yeah, and Polly Pocket? Doesn't fit in your pocket so well anymore, just so you know.

Welcome to the blog world!!! I am so excited that you are here. I am also sad about the changes in Strawberry shortcake. And what happened to Purple Pieman???
You know what is so wrong? Now Strawberry Shortcake has two pets: Custard and Pupcake. Pupcake used to belong to Huckelberry Pie. Not anymore, I guess. Now he just has some frog. They don't even make the Huckelberry Pie doll anymore. And no, they don't make the Peculiar Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak anymore either.
Hey, Jessica. I like your blog! I've heard of them before but yours is the first one I've visited!
I too am a SS fan - I loved them when I was little and still have my old dolls that I'm now anxious to share with my little gal when she's older. By the way, search on Ebay for vintage SS and there are lots of original (but used) SS dolls out there. I've been so tempted to bid but thought I should wait until my little gal is a little older. Just going to live out my childhood through her, I guess!!
You might call it "Forcing your childhood on her." That's what I'm doing to Emma. She WILL like Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony and Care Bears whether she likes it or not! I've thought about buying vintage SS dolls on Ebay but I'm still convinced that one day I will find mine. They're missing. I would NEVER have sold them at a garage sale. Would I?
I still have my Huck Finn, the little apricot doll, and the one with bright green hair (lime something?). I was so hoping that my mom still had some of the little buildings and bigger accessories but I think she garage saled them...amazing because my mom is a bit of a pack rat! Oh, well. I am thinking about getting the vintage SS doll. Although with Ellie only being 10 months old (today, in fact), I think that might be rushing things a bit!
